To Drive Or Not To Drive: Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Pagoda

The Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Pagoda offered by Kahn Automobiles conveys a touch of proverbial nostalgia.

The definition of a boulevardier, this Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Pagoda is a calm, nonchalant vehicle which is not concerned about being hurled along challenging b-roads.

Truth be told, the road is begging for this type of car. Not necessarily for performance or power, but because beautiful landscapes deserve a machine that’s not left ashamed by the lush surroundings of a fine-looking environment.

The styling cues given to the Pagoda lend a mature and subtle quality, and this anthracite grey machine has clearly been engineered and built to last.

One cannot help but immediately fall in love with the Benz’ cockpit and the ‘honesty’ of the materials is simply a joy to behold; what you see is what you get. The newly upholstered red leather seats are pure sixties Mercedes-Benz. The cushioning feels somewhat nonchalant. However, one must bear in mind; the seats are merely one of a number of clear indications that this is not a sports car. Anyone who thinks a steering wheel the size of the Queen Elizabeth’s (the ship) is appropriate for challenging lap time records is clearly mistaken.

Unpretentious yet poised - this is ideal vehicle for those interested in class, rather than brash, loud exhibitionism.

This is not only a suitably presidential classic, the Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Pagoda benefits from a stunning specification and will continue to appreciate in value.
